Meyer Lemon (Citrus x meyeri) – Fruiting Citrus Tree (5L Pot)

Citrus x meyeri, the Meyer lemon, crosses lemon with mandarin for sweeter, thinner skinned fruit and is one of the more forgiving citrus.

It has glossy dark green evergreen leaves, fragrant white blossom and golden fruit that is less acidic than a shop lemon. It can flower through much of the year, most prolifically in spring and autumn, and the main crop hangs from winter into spring. It is supplied ready to fruit. Container grown it reaches 100 to 150cm tall and 60 to 90cm across, and it is as happy on a sunny patio in summer as on a bright windowsill or in a conservatory.

Citrus is not hardy in Britain. Stand it outside in full sun from about May, then bring it into a bright, frost free place such as a conservatory, porch or cool greenhouse from about October until the frosts are over. A cool bright winter suits it far better than a warm dark room. It is self fertile, so one plant will fruit. Use a citrus feed through the growing season, water with rainwater where you can, and never let it sit in waterlogged compost. Bees visit the blossom when it is outside. Citrus is listed as harmful to pets if eaten, and the sap of lemon and lime can irritate skin in sunlight.

It is supplied as an established tree in a 5 litre nursery pot. You can also choose to have it in one of our planters or the metal pail; the planter is a decorative pot only and does not change the plant.
