A mature weeping fig with a dense canopy of small, dark, glossy leaves on gracefully arching branches, ready to stand as an indoor tree.

Ficus benjamina 'Danielle' is admired for its deep, lustrous green foliage and its naturally elegant weeping form. An upright central stem carries drooping side branches, and the whole plant reads as a proper tree indoors, which makes it a focal point for a larger living room, hallway, home office or reception area.

Give it bright, filtered or indirect light; a position near a well-lit window is ideal, and deep shade should be avoided. Keep it out of harsh direct sun. Let the top few centimetres of compost dry out between waterings, water less in autumn and winter, and never let the pot sit in water. Normal room temperatures suit it, away from cold draughts and radiators. Feed once a month in spring and summer, and wipe the big leaves with a damp cloth now and then, because dust stops them working. Ficus dislikes being moved, so choose its spot and leave it there.

Expect it to shed some leaves when it first arrives; that is a normal response to a change of surroundings, and it settles within a few weeks if conditions stay stable. Supplied as one established plant with a 5 litre root ball. The milky sap is a skin irritant and the plant is harmful if eaten, so keep it away from children, cats and dogs.
